The supersized design blog Smashing Magazine has released an interesting and useful post analyzing the designs of the Technorati Top 50. They recorded statistics on the designs, and put together some percentages.
Here are a few interesting numbers from the article:
- 92% have fixed layouts, rather than fluid or elastic.
- 76% of the fixed layouts are over 900px wide.
- None of the top 50 have justified text, all use left-aligned.
- Verdana is the most popular font, with Lucida Grande in second.
